GENERAL EAR & CARTILAGE PIERCING AFTERCARE REFERENCE GUIDE

Keep All Contents of Your Aftercare Pack and or Purchases Out of Reach of Children.

These contents may contain liquids, plastic bags, small metal and or plastic parts

or other times that can be dangerous, hazardous or fatal to children or pets.

This is the aftercare instructions for your professionally performed piercing.

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION PROVIDED TO YOU.

Follow these simple suggestions and the healing should be a success.

You may call, text, send videos or photos regarding your piercing service,

Earrings or aftercare anytime.

Use these suggested daily aftercare procedures to clean Ear or Cartilage Piercings.

Starting the day after the initial piercing procedure,

Clean the piercing at least two times a day with the aftercare products provided and

or suggested in your Aftercare instructions.

Visit the Baby Ear Piercing Youtube Cannnel for a Variety of Informative Aftercare Video Demo's.

A NORMAL PIERCING: May be tender, itchy or even may appear bruised for a few weeks.

It may be slightly red which can persist for several months.

A whitish-yellow or clear fluid can crust over the jewelry,

which is not pus. Some skin may become excessively dry

from the skin prep used during Ear Piercing Services.

In the first few days the body will be adjusting to the piercing and some bleeding can occur.

Never pick at crust, dead cell waste, play, pull, randomly rotate or move your piercings.

It can interrupt or prolong the healing process by causing aggregation.

The skin may naturally tighten around the Earring as it heals

and may make movement or rotation difficult.

ESTIMATED INITIAL HEALING TIMES: Ear 6-9 weeks. Cartilage 6-9 months.

The complete healing of an Ear or Cartilage Piercing can take one year or more to heal.

Clean the Ear Piercing two times a day for 6 to 9 weeks. 6 to 9 months for Cartilage.

Do not stop cleaning the piercing after the initial healing period.

Even after one year, continue to clean and check the back of an Ear or Cartilage Piercing daily.

The body may naturally move the Earring causing the piercing

to lay over to one side or even rest at an angle. When not cleaning a piercing, it's best to leave it alone.

DO NOT REMOVE the Earring when Cleaning a New Piercing.

Do not remove the Earrings during the initial healing period. This can cause issues.

After a successful initial healing period, you can simplify the aftercare cleaning procedure and incorporate

during the shower or bath into your daily hygiene routine. Wash with a gentle liquid soap or preferably

flush the piercing with a simple Sea Salt Solution.

Make sure to wash and check the piercing for several years.

CAUTIONS: Ear Piercing Jewelry that is too tight, may lead to the Earring becoming embedded.

Each time you clean your piercing, check for any signs of swelling, redness, irritations and Earrings

embedding. An embedded piercing looks like the jewelry is disappearing or has disappeared underneath

the skin. The backing of the Ear Piercing Jewelry must remain at the safety notch inscribed on the post.

An Earring Backing should never be pushed up along the post touching the back of the ear.

If the lobe is squeezed between the front and back of the Ear Piercing Jewelry, embedding is likely to

occur and the backing needs to be moved on to the notch of the post

or should be removed immediately upon any signs of excessive swelling.

Ear and Cartilage Piercings can carry the risk of infections,

permanent scarring and the potential for Ear and Cartilage deformities.

Standard Aftercare for New & Cartilage Piercings:

Use these suggested daily aftercare procedures to clean Ear or Cartilage Piercings.

Starting the day after the initial piercing procedure, clean the piercing at least two times a day

with the aftercare products provided and or suggested in the aftercare instructions.

Perform one of the Aftercare procedures in the morning and the other Aftercare procedure at night.

Perform Each Aftercare Procedure, Once Daily.

Aftercare Procedure #1 does not need to be the first Aftercare procedure of your personal daily routine.

If you shower at night, then that is the suggested time to perform Aftercare Procedure #1.

Your own shampoo or shower water running over the piercing

in most cases does not usually present potential piercing related issues.

During the initial healing period, a dead cell waste accumulation can often occur on the back of the Earring.

Flushing out, irrigating or soaking a piercing can prepare and soften the excess cell waste for removal.

Running clean water or a Sea Salt Solution over an Ear Piercing

is beneficial to float away dead cell wastes that can accumulate on the back of the piercing jewelry.

Making a Simple Sea Salt Solution for Daily Aftercare.

Use as a Flush, Drops, Soak or Spray for Aftecare Procedures.

Sea Salt Solution has been used for centuries as an ages old, ancient natural healing remedy.

Worldwide, Sea Salt Solution is used daily for gentle, effective, accelerated piercing aftercare.

A Sea Salt Solution can be especially helpful when commercial aftercare related product

irritations are suspected. When signs of irritations or aggravations are first noticed,

Use a Sea Salt Solution aftercare technique that has been selected by

your DEH Licensed Safe Body Art Practitioner.

A natural Sea Salt Solution applied on to any piercing at least two or even up to four times daily

can be especially beneficial for general healing and soothing aggravated piercings.

Do not wash the Ear piercings with a commercial Aftercare Product Solution more than 2 times daily.

Sea Salt Solution is not the same as saline contact lens or nasal solution

which can have additives and should never be used for Piercing Aftercare.

A Sea Salt Solution can be prepared with bottled or purified water

and does not need to be made every day. Usually about an ounce or less of Sea Salt Solution

is needed to perform the Standard Aftercare procedures.

Be sure to always use a clean, new container for mixing,

storing and the application of the Sea Salt Solution.

Always wash your hand thoroughly before preparing to make the Sea Salt Solution.

Standard Self-Made Sea Salt Solution Recipe for Daily Aftercare Procedures:

Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of Sea Salt into a clean, 8 oz. applicator bottle.

Fill with 8 oz. of clean, purified or bottled water.

Shake to dissolve.

The Sea Salt Solution is now ready for use.

Warming the water or Sea Salt Solution prior is optional.

Aftercare Procedure #1:

This Aftercare procedure is most effective when performed

with running water during bath or shower or under a facet.

1. Always wash your hand thoroughly before and after cleaning or handling a new piercing.

2. Prepare all the necessary Aftercare supplies.

Make and use the Standard Self-Made Sea Salt Solution Recipe.

3. Start by thoroughly soaking and flushing out the piercings with very warm water

from the faucet or a prepared applicator bottle for flushing purposes.

Tip: Aftercare procedures can efficiently and effectively be streamlined by using a generous amount of

warm water from the faucet by thoroughly soaking and flushing out any piercing.

4. Next, flush or irrigate the piercing with the prepared Sea Salt Solution which can be applied directly

from an applicator bottle or generously with a clean cloth. Before proceeding to the next step be sure the

piercing has been irrigated & flushed free of debris and all of the dead cell waste

has been loosened and soaked free.

5. Directly apply the Aftercare Solution from the product bottle to the front

and to the backside of each piercing. Use Sparingly.

6. Gently grasp the front of the Earring and rotate or move back and forth.

7. Next, gently compress the Ear Piercing. Apply pressure to the front of the Earring while directing the

main compression motions to the backside of the piercing site. Do this procedure for both ears.

8. Rinse off all of the Aftercare Solution product thoroughly with water.

Make sure all debris and any dead cell waste has been removed and washed away.

Leaving traces of debris or any dead cell waste will contribute to accumulations that can increase

aftercare procedures, prolong healing or even present jewelry removal as a result.

9. Follow by a generous Sea Salt Solution flushing. It is important to allow the Sea Salt Solution to soak

into the piercing and dry naturally after the final flushing.

Aftercare Procedure #2:

1. Always wash your hand thoroughly before and after cleaning or handling a new piercing.

2. Prepare all the necessary Aftercare supplies.

Make and use the Standard Self-Made Sea Salt Solution Recipe.

3. Directly from the applicator bottle,

apply a few drops of Sea Salt Solution to the front and the backside of each piercing.

4. Directly from the product bottle,

Apply the Aftercare Solution to the front and the backside of each piercing, sparingly.

Allow both solutions to soak into the piercing and dry naturally.

Do not move, turn or rotate your piercing during this aftercare procedure.

Do not move, turn or rotate a piercing that has not been soaked

or flushed free during an aftercare procedure.

To do so, may cause various aftercare complications that may affect the success of healing a piercing.

Sea Salt Solution Spray on the Go: Misted onto any piercing can be beneficial and may accelerate

initial healing stages. When used in conjunction with the standard daily aftercare procedures,

Sea Salt Solution Spray can be applied up to 4 times a day.

This technique should not to be used in place of the standard daily aftercare procedures for new Ear

Piercings unless traveling in route prevents such and the Standard Aftercare is impossible to perform.

To Use Sea Salt Solution Spray: Prepare the self-made Sea Salt Solution into a new,

clean spray bottle, then Mist Sea Salt Solution Spray directly onto the front and back

of the Ear Piercing. Do this procedure for each Ear.

It is important to allow the Sea Salt Solution to soak into the piercing and dry naturally.

Do not move, rotate or compress the piercing during the Sea Salt Solution Spray procedure.

To do so can aggravate a piercing by causing tearing and bleeding.

Initial Healing Times

Jewelry should not be changed during the initial healing period,

unless an issue regarding the progress of the piercing is present.

For Ear Lobes, the original Earring should be worn for 6-9+ weeks

or more just to reach an initial healing stage.

For most other Ear Piercings or Cartilage, its 6-9+ months or more to reach

an initial healing stage and before changing your jewelry style for fun or fashion.

Remember, Ear Piercings can take one year or more to completely heal.

Even after a one year healing period,

It is very important to clean and check the back of an Ear Piercing daily.

Older problematic Ear Piercing issues may need to be treated with similar guidelines as a new piercing.

CHANGING, REMOVING, or LOSS of EARRING JEWELRY

Your piercing will not be completely healed for several years.

For Ear Lobes, you must wear the original Earrings for 6-9 weeks.

For most other Ear & Cartilage Piercings,

Wait 6-9 months before changing your Earring style for fun or fashion.

Even after the piercing is healed, it is very possible that if you remove the Earring or if left out over night

or even for a short period of time, reinsertion can be very difficult and sometimes even impossible,

especially when unexpected trauma or an incident of disconnection has occurred. Earrings should not

be changed during the initial healing period,

unless an issue regarding the integrity of the piercing is present.

If you ever must temporarily remove or you lose your Earring or Backing Component during

the initial healing period or even after,

immediately install a retainer in the piercing to hold it open.

Nylon line is an excellent choice as a retainer, especially when jewelry loss occurs.

View the demo video on Baby Ear Piercing.com on the many different types of retainers or disguises.

IF YOUR EARRING COMES OUT:

Wash your hands, Earring and the piercing.

Reinstall the Earring immediately or as soon as possible.

Bleeding and individual protest during installation is common.

After the re-installation wash the piercing with a Sea Salt Solution.

Check for damages or missing pieces and replace as soon as possible.

Replacement can be urgent, but is not usually considered an emergency.

Schedule online for the next available weekday appointment or text.

If an Earring Backing has been lost,

Extra Earring Backings are available through mail order and are usually available on site and during off hours.

Text for Details Anytime.

Many piercings thought to have been long closed are quite often successfully re-opened.

Extra Earring Backings are available through mail order

and are usually available on site, in store,

and sometimes even during off hours for Standard Push/Pull Jewelry.

Text for Details Anytime.

TO REMOVE EARRING JEWELRY:

For Standard Ear Piercing Stud Removal:

Simply grasp well behind the front and under the backing component.

Proceed to pull apart firmly and evenly without tugging on the Ear.

Immediately clean, check that no issues are present and replace

if the intention is to continue wearing Earrings.

For hoop style removal,

Please consult your DEH Licensed Body Art Practitioner for assistance or check out our Youtube Channel.

It is no problem to permanently remove Earrings. In most cases only a small indentation will remain.

Ear or Cartilage Piercings may require soaking with a Sea Salt Solution procedure prior to removal.

Especially if the piercing exhibits signs of dead cell waste, debris or crust.

Follow the Instructions in the Aftercare Section for making a Sea Salt Solution.

 SWIMMING WITH NEW PIERCINGS

If you must go swimming with your new piercing during the healing period, you must attempt to totally

protect it. You can use a product called a “Tegaderm Patch.” It is a water proof patch.

There are no guarantees that this product will keep your piercing 100% dry.

Most guests that have used the patch report that it kept their piercings dry.

TO USE THE PATCH: Coat the piercing with non allergy causing,

over the counter cream like Bacitracin or Neosporin that

has a non water soluble base or cover with small cotton

or other clean creative material to prevent the Water Proof Patch

from adhering onto the new piercing.

These cream products can be applied alone, but may offer minimal

or even no protection depending on the situation.

INFECTIONS and IRRITATIONS have very similar signs.

The appearance of an Irritation can be mistaken for an infection.

INFECTIONS are caused by contact with harmful bacteria, fungi, and other living pathogens.

Piercing infections are actually quite rare but can usually be traced to some of the following activities

which you may have come in contact with, such as,

but not limited to touching with unwashed hands,

oral/bodily fluids, cosmetics, hair products, animals, pets, soil, gardening,

infrequently washed clothing or bedding, seat straps, pools, hot tubs, water

and other types of water sources, or unattended traumas.

While these symptoms may also indicate other problems,

look for these first indications of an infection: Redness and swelling.

A sensation of heat at the piercing site.

Pain that feels like it is spreading or throbbing or discomfort when touched,

unusual discharge of yellow, green or grey colors.

Red streaks toward the heart, an abscess or any other unusual piercing conditions

especially accompanied by a fever must be evaluated and treated immediately by a physician.

IRRITATIONS may appear in many different forms.

Here are some common causes: Insufficient, improper,

irregular aftercare cleaning techniques or omitting procedures.

Unexpected trauma such as hitting or snagging can cause an irritated reaction.

Sometimes irritations may not appear until several weeks after.

the initial trauma incident. Skin appearing shiny and tender with a clear discharge may indicate that an

aftercare product or jewelry is not the right one for the new piercing. Avoid over cleaning and irregular

aftercare techniques and procedures. Discontinue the use of an aftercare solution if you suspect irritation

from such. Friction caused by tight clothing, car seat or carrier shoulder straps, hats, rough activities and

improper handling methods may cause a bump and or permanent dark red or purple discoloration on or

near the piercing. Stress, diet, fatigue and illness may cause an increased healing period or even

migration of the piercing. Changing a piercing to an unsafe or unknown metal type can cause serious

reactions that are often confused with and thought to be an infection. Skin that pulls away from the

jewelry and appears to be consistently weeping, on & off are usually signs of a metal reaction.

Earring Durability The Earring Style Selected for Piercing services at Baby Ear Piercing.com

is found to be secure and usually does not disengage on its own.

and gradual physical wear can have possible effects on the durability,

performance, aesthetic appeal and longevity of any Earring and or Backing Component

after any unexpected removal occurs or as often as needed,
